The new conservatism includes in its coalition traditional conservatives (who sold their principles to it for use as slogans), libertarians (ditto), right to life Catholics (ditto), fundamentalist Protestants (ditto),  etc.  Without their votes and taxes the new conservatism would not have the power to conduct a world revolution (some conservatism!) run by the state security apparatus (some libertarianism!) — a revolution that has aborted countless (at any rate uncounted) lives in and out of the womb (some right to life exercise!) and the violation of every ethical mandate of the Bible (some fundamentalism!).
